If there is a camera that can give Canon’s T6i a run for its money for beginning photographers it is the Nikon D3300. This camera is a well-priced powerhouse, boasting 24 megapixels, and a burst rate of 5 FPS. A 3″ LCD (but fixed) screen and the ability to record 1080p video at 60 FPS makes this a good choice for videographers as well. The D3300 was released in 2014 and has been a very popular choice for beginners ever since. Because this camera is only sold as a kit, you won’t have to purchase lenses to go with it.
The choice of method for a given capture is determined largely by the subject matter. It is usually inappropriate to attempt to capture a subject that moves with anything but a single-shot system. However, the higher color fidelity and larger file sizes and resolutions available with multi-shot and scanning backs make them attractive for commercial photographers working with stationary subjects and large-format photographs.[original research?]
However, my understanding from poring over Panasonic’s manual is that the maximum record length of the V770 is six hours, not eight. In which case what you might look into doing is taking an opportunity in the middle of the day (I assume there’s some sort of break at some point, at least?) to hit record again for the second session, and to double check how much space is left on your SD card.
But there are reasons to opt for an SLR. If your eyesight isn’t perfect, an optical viewfinder may prove to be a better match rather than an electronic one, you may simply prefer their familiar feel, or you may already have access to compatible lenses. When moving beyond entry-level, SLRs catch up to mirorlesss in capability quickly, and typically offer a larger library of lenses and accessories from which to choose—although it’s mainly in exotic, very expensive lenses offered by Canon and Nikon that the wider selection comes into play.
In the single-lens reflex camera, the photographer sees the scene through the camera lens. This avoids the problem of parallax which occurs when the viewfinder or viewing lens is separated from the taking lens. Not sure I know what you mean by “mains power”; I know the V750K can record tons of video with a 64gb card, but I want to know if I can connect to AC power so it will be continuous, with no pause for changing batteries.

I already own the computer, I’m actually looking for SOFTWARE recommendations that would be easy to use, etc. Most of the ones I’ve seen that are “free”, really aren’t. Digital Sensors and Film are two distinct recording mediums which both display unique characteristics when recording an image. The way an image is processed, or edited for viewing, is also much different. While the main specification of the OM-D E-M10 Mark III doesn’t offer a huge upgrade from the Mark II, Olympus has refined and tweaked one of our favorite mirrorless cameras to make it an even more tempting proposition for new users and enthusiasts alike. Some will criticise the smaller Micro Four Thirds sensor format (roughly half the area of APS-C) but the effect on image quality is minor and it means that the lenses are as compact and lightweight as the camera itself. Look inside any professional photographer’s bag and there is a really good chance that you will see a Canon 5D Mark III. This camera is the workhorse of the photography world and one of the best on the market. Beginners will appreciate the 5D Mark III’s low-light performance, higher burst rate (6 FPS) and fast and accurate autofocus. This is simply one of the best cameras you can buy and, while it will take some learning for a true beginner, with this camera the sky is the limit. This camera was released in 2013 and has been upstaged by the recently-released 5D Mark IV. Regardless of its age, this camera has stood the test of time and has a worthy place in any photographer’s bag.
Film speed Traditionally used to “tell the camera” the film speed of the selected film on film cameras, film speed numbers are employed on modern digital cameras as an indication of the system’s gain from light to numerical output and to control the automatic exposure system. Film speed is usually measured via the ISO system. The higher the film speed number the greater the film sensitivity to light, whereas with a lower number, the film is less sensitive to light. A correct combination of film speed, aperture, and shutter speed leads to an image that is neither too dark nor too light, hence it is ‘correctly exposed’, indicated by a centered meter.
If you can track one down for cheaper, last year’s Panasonic HC-V750K is essentially identical to the V770K. Excluding some rather minor features you’re probably unlikely to rely on (a new HDR video mode, a switch from mini HDMI to micro HDMI), they’re pretty much the same camera. So if you can find last year’s model for a notably lower price somewhere, then it’s probably worth picking up.
I just bought a Canon HF R62. My primary use will be to video dance contests. I may transfer some of the video files to DVD to share with the contestants. I am not sure which format and frame rate to choose. My gut says MP4 at 24mbps. But I am a rookie so I would appreciate your advice. I see the camera will let me simultaneously record a MP4 at 4mbps which is supposedly good for web files, so I may choose that option. Thanks for any and all help.
How rugged are these? Could the Canon work for a smart 7 year old who wants “to make movies?” The kids camcorders I have looked at seem to be, well, toys – – with a lot of serious deficiencies. Thanks

The K-1 offers a rugged build and a full-frame sensor at a relatively affordable price. It’s not cheap, but it compares favourably with the likes of the Nikon D810, Canon EOS 5D Mark III and Sony Alpha 7R II. Pentax’s Pixel Shift Technology is clever, and it’s great that the company has managed to produce a mode that can be used when the camera is handheld, although the impact is subtle. Less of an all-rounder than the 5D Mk III, the K-1 makes an excellent camera for landscape, still life and portrait photography, or any genre that doesn’t require fast autofocus and which benefits from a high pixel count for detail resolution.
Just like D500, the EOS 7D Mark II borrows many of its features from its big brother, the EOS-1D X (that’s now been replaced by the EOS-1D X Mark II), bringing 10fps shooting and a professional autofocus system to the amateur market. Now you can shoot action and sports like the pros, but at a price within the reach of enthusiasts. The EOS 7D Mark II isn’t just a high-speed specialists, it’s a terrific all-round camera. It’s tough, with an alloy body and weather-sealed controls, it has a great sensor with an advanced dual-pixel hybrid autofocus system, and it’s a powerful video camera too.
A DSLR is still the cheapest way to get a camera with interchangeable lenses and a viewfinder (you’ll find entry-level mirrorless cameras don’t have viewfinders) and, at the other end of the scale, almost all professional sports, press and wildlife photographers choose full-frame DSLRs over every other camera type. 
Focussing of these plate cameras was by the use of a ground glass screen at the point of focus. Because lens design only allowed rather small aperture lenses, the image on the ground glass screen was faint and most photographers had a dark cloth to cover their heads to allow focussing and composition to be carried out more easily. When focus and composition were satisfactory, the ground glass screen was removed and a sensitised plate put in its place protected by a dark slide. To make the exposure, the dark slide was carefully slid out and the shutter opened and then closed and the dark slide replaced.
